Meeting Summary
This presentation will be provided by Charlie Schlegel, Director of the Division of Safety Inspection, Pennsylvania Department of Health and will provide Nursing Home Administrators, nursing staff, maintenance/engineering staff and quality assurance staff key information to provide a safe nursing home environment that promotes high quality resident care and maintain compliance with state licensure and federal certification requirements.
This includes:
- Understand physical environment requirements within the recent and complete update to the state Long Term Care (LTC) Regulations;
- Review the 2018 Edition of the Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI) Guidelines for the Design and Construction of Residential Health, Care, and Support Facilities;
- Recognize the necessity and process to inform the Pennsylvania Department of Health of new construction, renovations and alterations to LTC facilities;
- Review and understand the federal Time-Limited Waiver process to provide additional time for correction of certain Life Safety Code deficiencies and avoid federal penalties;
- Understand federal requirement changes for new construction, major renovations and newly certified resident rooms.
